The first few weeks of 2011 were an explosive time of growth for us here on the KinEmote development team and we’re still flying ahead at what feels like 1,000 mph.
KinEmote 0.3 enjoyed huge success over the Christmas season surpassing 3,000 users in 3 weeks since it’s Christmas eve release and continues to grow at the rate of around 250 users per week.
Along with continuing to build out the next version of KinEmote we have been putting an extensive amount of work into building user community tools and a new web site so we all have a place to call home for help, ideas and fun centered around using KinEmote with your favorite Windows applications.
Despite some coding delays and sickness we are putting the finishing touches on 0.4 and plan to release it this week with new features, enhanced feedback functions, a new look and a completely rebuilt UI to make it even easier for you to configure and use with you Xbox Kinect camera.
All the members of the KinEmote team want to say ‘Thank You’ for all of the great support we have received from the user community, the tech blogs and the big new sites that have helped spread the word and get KinEmote out there for all to enjoy.
Dont forget to subscribe to kinemote on Twitter @kinemote and if you really really like us then we’d appreciate a ‘like’ for the KinEmote FaceBook page.

Whenever I use Kinemote .3 with my Boxee HTPC, it makes playback of 720p content stutter. Do ya know if .4 will use less memory/cpu? Thanks btw, this program is amazing for my living room!
Hi Brandon,
As the drivers stand at the moment they are doing a lot of work in CPU. Disabling the video feedback window will drop the CPU usage a lot.
Thanks for the fast response time! I just checked and that option isn’t enabled on my box. Do you think updating my drivers will improve the CPU usage? As it stands, I use Kinemote to show others how cool it is, but the stuttering hampers its daily use. I reallllyyy want to be able to use kinemote daily : Though, it should be important to note that my computer is an Acer Revo 1600 with a 1.6 ghz dual core Atom processor and 3 gigs internal RAM and 4 gigs SmartBoost. Obviously, it’s not your software, it’s my hardware haha
Hopefully as the drivers mature they will get more efficient, but if you consider the crazy things that they are doing it’s pretty astounding they can run at all on low power rigs.
are there any intentions to use kinemote analogue to the xbox360 interface? meaning that a hand or mousepointer appears on the xbmc interface and holding my hand on a certain item for a specific amount of time would run the item? I tried 0.3. and was frustrated in the beginning but when I got accustomed to the control areas i just loved it. Nonetheless, selections by mistakes could be avoided if a xbox360 interface approach is adopted…
